From 450,000 kg to 1 Million: Ríos Limpios Keeps Growing

Hi everyone! Welcome to our second edition of our “Cleaning up the World” Newsletter. Every month we will keep you up to date on our impact, new partnerships, new locations and all the going ons at Rios Limpios.

In our first newsletter, we celebrated a milestone—450,000 kg of trash removed from our waterways to date. This month, we’re proud to report that our impact is growing fast.

🌍 Chuburná, Yucatán: A New Model for Ongoing Impact

In April, we launched our first continuous clean-up site in Chuburná, Yucatán. In just two months, our team and local volunteers removed 20 tonnes of trash—a powerful start to what we hope becomes a long-lasting transformation of this coastal community.

💚Thank You! To our 63 volunteers that made Chuburná fun and achievable:

63 volunteers from the 6th grade class at Madison School in Merida helped pick up 1,200KG or 1.2 tonnes in one day from the mangroves of Chuburna, significantly helping us reach our goal. In addition, as part of our environmental education program, we went to a nature reserve nearby and discussed the importance of the mangrove ecosystem as a mitigator to global warming as well as the animal and plant species it sustains. Thank you 6th grade class at Madison.

🌍 Valle de Bravo: Our next stops for Ongoing Impact
